What is UDRI?
UDRI began as an 8th grade robotics club.
The members of the club learned how to build and program robots with
the Lego Mindstorms robotics kits.
The top two teams in the club each year participated in the FIRST
Lego League competition.
The program has now expanded to include 9th
through 12th grade.
The high school students compete in the FIRST Tech Competition.
Next year we plan to expand the program to
include 6th and 7th grade.
There will be a small pilot program for these students next year.
They will also have the opportunity to compete in the FIRST Lego
League competition.
In the near future, we plan to include all 4 of
the districts elementary schools in the robotics program.
This may simply be a program that takes place at the school, or they
may compete in the Junior FIRST Lego League.
The final large step in completing our vision is
to have the high school students compete in the FRC.
Some students would continue to compete in the FIRST Tech
Competition, while others will compete with the larger robots in the FRC.
The ultimate goal of UDRI is to
provide all students in the
Upper Dublin
School District with
the opportunity to explore and interact with robotics.
